Many vehicle manufacturers are now incorporating CAN Bus wiring
systems into their current models. CAN Bus wiring was originally
designed by Bosch to link electrical control systems together to
form a network of information around the vehicle. CAN Bus is
replacing the conventional wiring as it is less bulky and offers
manufacturers a cost saving on running copper wire throughout a
vehicle, however this does make it increasingly difficult to
retrofit products to modern vehicles.
The solution is to use a CAN Bus interface
which interprets the CAN Bus data and
translates it into an output which can be
used when installing
aftermarket products such as satellite navigation, cruise
control, taximeters, reversing sensors, security and fleet
management etc.
During the past couple of years SPAL have
invested heavily in developing and
manufacturing a
competitively
priced CAN Bus interface that is
reliable and easy to install. As a result we
now have two CAN interfaces available that
are currently compatible with 150+ vehicles
(see below).

CAN data on a vehicle
and provide a variety of outputs
- making SPAL CAN interfaces the
ideal choice for a wide range of applications.

SPAL CAN Bus interfaces
are currently compatible with 150+
vehicles. However units are
designed to be simple to install
and program and updateable.
New vehicle databases can be
written to ICB-1/2 devices using
the SPAL interface software
(which can be downloaded from
the dealer area of our website)
and a connection to a PC using
the supplied USB cable. Using
the SPAL interface software
outputs can be re-configured to
suit individual requirements
(see tables below).

your PC and downloads any
future database updates that are
